Accessibility

A website everyone can use, whatever they use it with.

We want anyone to be able to learn about heat pumps and reach us through this site, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard, magnification or voice control. This page explains what we have done, where we know we fall short, and how to reach us another way.

At a glance

The short version

Our goal

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA.

Built in

Keyboard navigation, screen reader labels, strong color contrast, large tap targets and every page in English and Spanish.

Not perfect yet

The site has not had an independent audit, and a few parts come from other companies.

Another way in

Anything on this site, we can tell you by phone, by email or in person at the assessment.

1. The standard we aim for

We aim for this website to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, the standard most widely used for websites in the United States. We check pages against it when we build or change them.

The site has not yet been audited by an independent accessibility specialist.

2. What we have built in

  • Keyboard access. Every link, button, menu and form field can be reached and used with a keyboard, and the item in focus is clearly outlined. A “Skip to content” link at the top of each page goes straight past the menu.
  • Screen readers. Pages use real headings in order, labelled regions, labelled form fields and descriptive link text. Images and drawings have text descriptions, and the example room-by-room plan on the home page is described in words.
  • Contrast and text. Text meets WCAG AA contrast against its background. Text can be enlarged to 200% with the browser’s zoom without losing content or needing to scroll sideways.
  • Phones and tablets. Pages work at any screen width, and buttons, links and form choices are large enough to tap easily.
  • Motion. Nothing moves or plays on its own. Small hover effects are turned off if your device is set to reduce motion.
  • Language. Every page is available in English and Spanish, and each page tells assistive technology which language it is in.
  • Forms. Every field has a visible label, optional fields are marked as optional, and the form tells you what is missing before it sends.

3. Known limitations

  • Google reviews. When our reviews section is switched on, it is provided by Elfsight, an outside company. We choose its settings for readability, but we cannot fully control or test its accessibility.
  • Other websites. We link to sites such as Mass Save, NHSaves and Google. Their accessibility is outside our control.
  • Program documents. Rebate forms and program paperwork come from the programs themselves, and some are only in English. We will walk you through any of them by phone or in person.

4. Other ways to reach us

You never need this website to work with us.

  • By phone: (781) 281-8608. If you use a relay service, you can reach us by dialing 711.
  • In person: at the assessment, we can go through the quote with you in whatever way works best, and in English or Spanish.

If you need a quote or other document in a different format, such as larger print, ask and we will do our best to provide it.

5. Tell us about a problem

If something on this site is hard to use, please tell us. Let us know the page, what you were trying to do and, if you are comfortable sharing it, the device or assistive technology you use. Call (781) 281-8608.

While we fix the problem, we will get you the information another way.
